THE COMPANY seeks to recruit A dynamic, self-driven individual for the position OF MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

Job Title: Marketing & Public Relations Officer
Responsible to General Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The holder will provide the main interface between the Company and milk producers and will be expected to build and maintain positive relations between the Company and the producers. Critically, the holder will be expected to communicate important messages from the Company that impact on its relations with the producers and also synthesize and relay feedback to the Company on important issues raised by producers.

Duties and Responsibilities
The holder will be expected to:
* Gain a critical understanding of the challenges faced by milk producers and address their concerns and expectations
* Communicate key messages to milk suppliers in order to establish and maintain goodwill.
* Organize events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours.
* Respond to enquiries from the farmers, media, local administration and other stakeholders
* Keep an eye on public opinion about an organization or particular issues
* Advise management on communication issues and strategies to ensure buy-in by milk producers
* Address media queries regarding milk production and supply, as well as on other concerns raised by stakeholders.
* Foster community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
* Managing the public relations aspect of any potential crisis situations as and when they arise
* Provide a crucial link between the Company and local administration, especially on areas that impact on milk production, animal husbandry and milk delivery
* Answer enquiries from media regarding farmers milk supplies and other concerns of the stakeholders.

Personal Profile

a) Skills/Abilities
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Have confidence and an outgoing personality with capacity to interact comfortably with key public figures
* Possess advanced public speaking skills
* Excellent teambuilding and interpersonal skills
* Be highly flexible, with very good organizing and problem solving skills
* Excellent analytical and planning skills that focus on attaining specific results
* Strong computer skills, especially MS Office applications, and various accounting systems and software
* Have passion and capacity to travel frequently
* Be in possession of a clean Driving licence
* Good fluency in English and Kiswahili, both oral & written, a must
* Possess sound knowledge of regional milk supply issues, with sound geographical knowledge of milk catchment areas

b) Knowledge and Qualifications
* Have Bachelors degree in P.R and/or a diploma in Marketing
* A degree in agriculture or agricultural economics will be an advantage
* Demonstrated record of effective corporate communications and event management. Media experience gained covering the agricultural sector will be an added advantage.

c) Experience
* Two to three years experience that includes organizing events, media liaison and corporate communications
* Experience in handling P.R. issues involving large numbers of people will be an added advantage
* Experience in handling key public figures.
