MONITORING AND EVALUATION FACILITATOR

Additional location information: BASED IN NAIROBI DEVELOPMENT AREA

Plan's urban program in Nairobi covers 4 divisions of Nairobi West and Nairobi East districts. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Development Area (DA) in program/project planning, information gathering and synthesis, reflection and reporting processes. The incumbent will report to the Area Manager. This is a 2 year contract with the possibility of renewal
Key responsibilities

    * Facilitate development of DA's participatory monitoring and evaluation systems;
    * Train staff and partners in participatory M&E processes to develop programs;
    * Institutionalisation of corporate monitoring and evaluation tools at DA level;
    * Provide measurement and assessment of performance in order to effectively manage outcomes and outputs of Plan interventions;
    * Maintenance/administration of the corporate projects monitoring system;
    * Consolidation/sharing of successes (best practices) and lessons learnt on a regular basis;
    * Facilitate community based information sharing and dissemination of evaluations and other special studies;
    * Facilitate partner capacity assessment;
    * Enhance children participation in planning, program design, monitoring and evaluation.

Qualifications, experience and skills

    * At least a Bachelor's degree in social sciences (sociology, anthropology, economics);
    * 3- 5 years hands on experience in community based monitoring & evaluation;
    * Working knowledge of Logical Framework Approach(LFA), Outcome Monitoring(OM) and strategic planning;
    * Good understanding of Human Rights Based Approach to development(HRBAD)programming;
    * Experience in participatory approaches such as PLA, PRA,PAR;
    * A good understanding of child rights;
    * Demonstrated skills and experience in use of statistical packages(SPSS, EPI STATA);
    * Analytical, negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills;
    * Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment and communities at all levels;
    * Innovative and independent thinker;
    * Knowledge and experience in Most Significant Change (MSC) approach or critical stories of change will be an added advantage.
