Financial Sector Deepening Trust Technical Manager Job Vacancy
Our client FSDT (Financial Sector Deepening Trust) is a fund sponsored by five international donors from Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK, as well as the Government of Tanzania and was incorporated in Tanzania in June 2004.
The overall aim of FSDT is to help more people achieve greater access to a deeper financial system in Tanzania which entails a focus on rural and poorer communities, as well as micro and small enterprises. The FSDT funds a wide variety of initiatives and investments in the financial sector using grants, loans, subordinated debt and other instruments.
FSDT intends to appoint a Technical Manager (TM) who will report to the Technical Director. The Technical Manager will have a crucial role in supporting the Technical Director in identifying and managing the programme’s activities under the Trust in order to achieve the FSDT programme objectives in conformance with the Trust Deed, as well as the current FSDT strategy as implemented by annual business plans.
The contract will be for three years, with extension by mutual agreement and dependent on performance.
The Technical Managers (TM) role will include:
·         Investment cycle management and monitoring to ensure appropriate performance by investees
·         Strategic thinking and business planning
·         Building and maintaining strategic linkages with a wide range of stakeholders including: government ministries, departments and agencies; banks, microfinance and other private sector financial service providers; businesses providing services to these; and NGOs and other organisations contributing to financial sector development
·         Organisational, administrative and fiduciary responsibilities.
Skills and Experience required include:
·         At least five years experience in one or more of the following : banking , microfinance, financial risk management, finance for small enterprise, finance for agricultural value chains, and be very familiar with issues facing the development of the financial sector in Tanzania.
·         A first degree or equivalent qualification such as ACCA or CPA
·         At least three years management experience in one or more of these areas but most likely in the private sector.
·         First rate written and oral communication skills in both English and Kiswahili

·         Demonstrate previous ability to work well in a team environment and work under pressure to tight reporting deadlines
·         Someone who shows initiative, is performance driven and has considerable planning and organizational skills
·         Is a Tanzanian citizen.

Remuneration and other benefits in FSDT are set to be competitive and independently benchmarked against a range of private and public sector organisations. Starting salary will depend on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.
