POST – PROGRAMMER

Company – APA Insurance
Division/Department: Information Communication & Technology
Immediate Supervisor: Head of ICT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Propose the design, plan and develop software applications that meet/exceed the needs of the organization.
* Plan, implement and document software change management including new releases, upgrades and fixes.
* Perform program documentation, version control and software quality assurance.
* Plan for the installation, upgrades and setup of application systems whenever there is need.
* Conduct training on the new releases, fixes and upgrades in consultation with Heads of Departments and Systems Analyst as need be.
* Develop Ad-hoc user reports, Management reports and Audit trails as need be.
* Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
* Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
* Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
* Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
* Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
* Document application program problems and resolutions for future reference.
 QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology or any other related field.
* Certifications: OCA, (oracle certified administrator), OCP (oracle certified professional) & MCSD (Microsoft Certified Systems Developer) is essential.
* At least 4 years experience in active programming, especially in Oracle forms-SQL, VB 6.
* Experience in Dot Net, ASP, and PHP development is desirable.
* 2 years experience in insurance industry is an added advantage.
* Excellent inter personal skills.
* Good communication and listening skills.
