Our client is a registered education charity delivering education services to a diverse range of clients worldwide. This Not-for-Profit Organisation wishes to recruit a professional to provide financial management and accounting services to programmes managed by its African Regional Office and ensure that financial affairs are conducted in a professional manner.
The Finance Manager will ensure that financial affairs within the Africa Regional Office are conducted in a professional manner and meet the legal, contractual and Head Office requirements. He/ she will provide financial management and accounting services to projects and programmes managed by the Africa Regional Office and support the Senior Management Team in developing new business. The Manager will also represent the Director when appropriate.
# Responsibilities
1. Finance
* Manage the organization’s financial affairs in the Regional Office and alert the Director to potential difficulties.
* Advise Senior Management Team on financial issues.
* Prepare management accounts for submission to Head Office according to agreed timescale.
* Conduct cash and cheque transactions, including banking, floats, coding, reconciliations and related issues.
* Contribute to preparation of and re-forecasting of budgets for the Regional Office and its projects and programmes.
* Manage finance staff in the Regional Office.
* Ensure financial transactions and records are undertaken and maintained in accordance with Audit regulations and assist in the completion of the annual audit and any project or programme audits.
* Administer monthly staff salaries and associated statutory payments within required time-scales.
* Advise on internal manuals and guidelines for financial systems and processes, including procurement, purchasing and payments.
* Liaise with clients and partners on financial issues, including chasing bad debts.
2. Projects, programmes and new business
* Provide direct consultancy or advisory inputs in finance-related areas.
* Guide field-based staff in accounting principles and standards such that the organization’s contractual obligations are met, including identifying problems and amending work procedures as necessary.
* Liaise with project offices to ensure that project accounts are maintained and submitted in accordance with funding agency requirements.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly and other financial accounts and reports in accordance with funding agency guidelines.
* Contribute to budget generation and revision in accordance with funding agency guidelines
* Contribute to identifying business opportunities, preparing business plans and proposals and negotiating for new business.
* Provide an analysis of the contribution of each new project and advice on margins and fee rates.
Requirements
o Business degree in Accounting or Finance
* Sound knowledge of financial management and accounting procedures at both national and international levels
* Experience of providing support on financial issues to projects
* Familiarity with tax and audit laws, regulations and procedures
* Superior Communications skills
* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in an international context
