Youth Development Programme Officer Job.
Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) is a Grantmaking Community Foundation which
seeks to build the capacity of local community organizations as one strategy for achieving greater
impact of community led development initiatives. KCDF works with an increasing number of local
organizations in this effort.

KCDF is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead the implementation of
its Youth Development Programme. The programme has a nationwide coverage and seeks to promote
inclusion, participation and economic empowerment of youth of between 18 to 35 years. Through a
competitive and objective process, Youth Development Grants target youth led and youth serving
organizations whose local initiatives are led by youth for youth, in areas such as skills development for
livelihood, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities of the young people, among other
areas.This position thus requires frequent travel in-country.

Under the supervision of the Programme Director, the right candidate will be a team player, and able to
provide leadership to a growing youth portfolio, but also able to design new programmes and explore
viable funding opportunities and partnerships, that respond to pressing challenges facing youth in
Kenya.

Key duties and responsibilities:

As part of the Programme Team, the Youth Development Coordinator will:
Coordinate and ensure the effective management and implementation of the existing youth
targeting programmes within KCDF, namely The Youth Development Programme and the Youth
to Youth Fund
Ensure achievement of strict implementation deadlines; compliance with programme goals and
objectives, and adherence with approved plans and budgets.
Coordinate the identification and selection of partners/grantees and development of their
proposals, plans, and budgets.Support the strengthening of organizational capacity of youth programme partners
Ensure full and proactive compliance with the Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation guidelines and
policies.
Ensure that programme and lesson learning reports are accurate, on time and appropriately
shared/disseminated.
In consultation with the Programme Director and other members of Senior Management,
research/ generate new ideas and originate concept notes and proposals for submission to
potential donors, with a view to expanding their Programme and /or other programmes, in line
with KCDF’s strategic priorities.
Provide liaison with be the focal point for a multi-stakeholder youth advisory groups and
networks at the national and sub national levels.
Coordinate the identification and supervision of all programme reviews, case studies and
programme consultants.
Represent KCDF at meetings/fora on youth development/programming with GOK relevant
ministries, donors, civil society, as appropriate.

Key qualifications required
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or development studies.
At least 5 years experience in programme development and in diverse programmes that target
vulnerable groups or disadvantaged communities.
A demonstrated passion, knowledge and / or involvement in youth targeted initiatives..and
familiarity with donor reporting requirements.
Experience in capacity development of grassroot actors and exposure or knowledge of
organizations, networks of youth serving organizations, and other actors seeking to address
youth issues in the country..
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills., Ability to build a team
and supervise other team members and with demonstrated leadership skills
