Kenya Methodist University, a chartered ecumenical institution of higher learning based in Meru and with campuses in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Nyeri and Maua wishes to recruit dynamic and qualified professionals for the following positions.
ASSISTANT REGISTRAR –ADMINISTRATION
Applicants should be holders of Masters Degree in Business Administration from a recognized Institution.
In addition applicants must have 3 years experience in a similar position, good organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
The holder of this position will be responsible to Deputy Registrar Administration for:
• Implementation of the university’s strategies plan
• Facilitating development of information and Communication Technology(ICT) policy for the university
• Coordinating efficient acquisition and usage of ICT facilities
• Ensure formulation of performance contracts for all employees
• Providing leadership, guidance and performance in outsourced administrative services
• Initiating the development and review of the University’s procurement policies and procedures
• Enforcing procurement practices that are both honest and transparent,
• Developing storage procedures and practices that will reduce cost, damages and wastage’s
• Coordinating transport and logistics services in a cost-effective manner
• Coordinating security and safety operations in the university’s premises
• Developing and updating procedures for maintain the university’s environment.
• Appraise performance of the administration department’s staff, identify their training needs and develop them as appropriate.
• Preparing and controlling the administration’s budgets and expenditure of Administration Department.
• Ensure staff adherence to the code of conduct and staff discipline
• Close liaison with Human Resource Department
• Any other duties assigned
FARM MANAGER
Applicants should be holders of Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from a recognized Institution. In addition applicants must have five years experience in a similar position. A Master degree in Project Management will be an added advantage.
The holder of this position will be responsible to Registrar Administration for:
• Optimizing acquisition and utilization of human and physical as well as material and financial resources available to the firm enterprise.
• Overseeing and taking responsibility for effective planning and cost –effective execution of all enterprise activities
• Producing monthly management reports for the University and Enterprise Board.
• Advising the board on the timing and the best method of marketing firm produce
• Preparing annual budget, maintaining inventory of assets and submitting business plan for the farm.
• Evaluating and recommending to the board the viability of the various projects to be undertaken and those in progress
• Serve as the executive business manager and technical advisor to the Board
• Ensuring security of enterprise assets
• Compiling months’ progress reports.
• Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
SENIOR LECTURER – BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Applicants must be holders of at least a Ph.D in the field of specialty or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. In addition applicants must have 3 years experience in teaching and at a Lecturer level, professional Skills including; communication, Interpersonal relations, counseling, Facilitation, Curriculum development and Computing. Evidence of Research and publishing in relevant area of competence is of critical importance.
The holder of this position will be engaged in;
• Preparing lessons and other teaching materials
• Facilitating lectures in field of competence
• Vetting and approving thesis proposal
• Reading thesis and making editorial corrections
• Preparing, evaluating and grading student assignments ,test and examinations
• Participating in curriculum development, writing and development of tests, manuals or other teaching materials
• Researching and updating knowledge in field of competence
• Counseling and advising students
• Participating in department and staff activities and scheduled meeting and events
• Performing any other duties as may be directed by the head of department.
LECTURER – BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Applicants must be holders of at least a PhD in the field of specialty or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. In addition applicants must have 3 years experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer, professional Skills including; communication, Interpersonal relations, counseling, Facilitation, Curriculum development and Computing. Evidence of research, publishing will be a basic requirement
The holder of this position will be in charge of:
• Preparing lessons and other teaching materials
• Facilitating lectures in field of competence
• Vetting ,approval of project proposals and supervising at undergraduate level
• Preparing, evaluating and grading student assignments, tests and examinations
• Participating in curriculum development, writing and development of tests, manuals or other teaching materials
• Research and advising students
• Participating in department and staff activities and scheduling meetings and events
• Performing any other duties as may be directed by the Head of Department
DEPUTY REGISTRAR – PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
Applicants must be holders of at least a Masters degree in Administration (Strategic Management) from a recognized University. In addition, must have professional training in the area of finance management and at least 5 years of experience in a management level.
The holder of this position will be in charge of:
• Coordinating the preparation of strategic plans
• Preparing short and Medium term plans
• Coordinating and implementing development project
• Preparing Capital Project plans and management reports
• Departmental human resource manpower planning
• Preparation of students’ registration statistics forecast
• Facility and infrastructure planning and development
• Liaison with CHE for Facilities requirements and compliance
• Performing the functional role in fundraising activities
• Liaison with Alumni
SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – HUMAN RESOURCE
Applicants must be holders of at least a Masters degree in Management or Business Administration (Human Resource specialization) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. At least 5 years of experience in an institution of higher learning or equivalent organization in the corporate sector. They must have relevant professional training and membership to a relevant Professional body
The holder of this position will be responsible to Registrar Administration for in charge of:
• HR Policy Formulation, implementation and evaluation
• Recruiting
• Training and development.
• Performance management
• Reward and benefit management
• Employee Motivation
• Industrial Relations
• Record management
• Secretary to Human Resource Training committee
SENIOR SUPPLIES OFFICER
Applicants must be holders of at least a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Procurement option) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University. In addition applicants must have 3 years experience in a similar position. Applicants must have relevant professional training and membership to chartered Institute of Supplied Management. A Masters in Business Administration will be an added advantage
The holder of this position will be accountable to Financial Controller for the following:
• Preparing and submitting annual procurement plan for approval
• Evaluating and rating suppliers’ quotations and terms
• Preparing and dispatching LPO for approved purchases
• Vetting and approval direct purchases
• Preparation of expenditure returns and other performance report
• Verifying compliance of goods or services purchased and delivered against agreed conditions and terms as specified in the LPOS.
• Keeping custody of contract Agreement files
• Participating in decisions to dispose of obsolete and damaged goods
• Compiling necessary data and producing reports for use in the decision making
• Preparation of procurement budget for the University
• Monitor performance status of procured goods against expectations of the users to guide future sourcing decisions
• Management of the University stores
• Monthly and annual stock taking
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to them
ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – STUDENT RECRUITMENT
Applicants should be holders of Masters Degree in Business Administration from a recognized Institution and professional training in Marketing/Communication and Public relations. In addition applicants must have several years experience in the service sector, good organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
The holder of this position will report to the registrar Academic Affairs and will be in charge
of:
• Design and implementation of effective university recruitment and marketing strategies.
• Ensure effective Marketing, publicity and recruitment of students
• Maintenance of positive relations with Internal and external publics/stakeholders
• Designing and implementation of publicity materials –banners, posters, brochures, flyers, memorabililia, and advertisement press release etc.
• Conducting marketing and market relations surveys\Audit to collect and collate relevant market information.
• Provide guidance to all staff on proper customer relations practices
• Monitoring usage and distribution of Marketing and publicity materials and maintain inventory of the same
• Keeps close liaison with counterpart across the University to ensure coordinated recruitment marketing and publicity activities
• Developing and maintain key contacts with customers to ensure good customer relations.
• Follow up and resolve all marketing and business development administrative issues.
• Preparation of budget periodic marketing and publicity reports.
• Planning and executing effective marketing and publicity events, shows, exhibitions, visitations,open/career days etc
• Participate in student admission process.
• Any other duties within the scope of job purpose as may be assigned from time to time
