DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Supports the Project Director in leading a multi-year program in Turkana county to support integrated health service delivery in technical areas of HIV/AIDS, malaria, MNCH, family planning and tuberculosis, and selected interventions related to the social determinants of health.
The Deputy Director will have overall responsibility for implementation of project activities in the field, translating the vision and strategy into activities, directing and managing the project team in the field, and
coordinating the critical relationships of civil society and public sector partners and other key stakeholders.
The position will be based in Lodwar.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated program management and leadership skills
• Minimum 5 years field management experience, preferably in Turkana county
• Graduate degree in related field
• Experience undertaking high-level policy dialogue with multitude of stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit vision to partners/colleagues
• Extensive experience with HIV/AIDS and MCH programming; familiarity with PEPFAR methodologies and reporting requirements preferred
• Experience managing/reporting on USAID-funded programs
• In-depth knowledge of health systems and decentralization of services
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Fluency in English, including strong English writing skills; Swahili verbal and written skills desired
MCH/FP MANAGER
Provide and mobilize technical assistance to support development of health providers managing and implementing maternal, neonatal and child health (MCH) and family planning (FP) services at the district and
community level. S/he will manage activities to increase the sustainability of and improve MCH/FP services within government health teams and selected local partner NGOs/CBOs. S/he will have responsibility for
mobilizing the public and private sectors to expand the availability of quality MCH/FP services and products. Activities encompass systems management including planning, information management, MCH/FP
supply management, and financing. The position will be based in Isiolo.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Education: BSc Nursing degree, or a Registered Nurse with an
Advanced Diploma in Nursing. A holder of an MPH will have an added advantage.
• Demonstrated experience as a trainer of health providers and at least 5 years experience MCH/FP and related clinical management.
• Demonstrated experience in development of programs addressing management capacity, quality and sustainability of programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in the MCH/FP field.
• Familiarity with the intricacies and nuances of the Ministry of Health service delivery system and hands-on clinical experience in Kenyan health facilities.
• Demonstrated leadership in working and collaborating with other technical professionals, experts, and national staff from the public sector and NGO/CBO organizations.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively in Marsabit, Isiolo and Samburu counties.
• Fluency in English required. Fluency in Swahili desirable.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Administer Microsoft Server; provide computer and network support to field offices and partner-supported sites; upgrade and maintain software, ensuring that all workstations are virus free; manage project automation and integration to ensure efficient use of IT resources. The position will
be based in Garissa.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A first degree in computing and/or information technology;
• At least five years hands-on experience in Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and 2003 server installations, configurations and Active Directory
• At least three years experience in administration of Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2003, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, BrightStor Backup Solution for backups
• Familiarity with the entire spectrum of information technology operations, including LAN/WAN/VSAT/wireless technologies, Cisco switches & routers, Juniper Netscreen firewall, VPN, DNS, DHCP,
HP Proliant Servers, etc.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, support, and implement technical solutions at all levels, including smart phones
• Able and willing to travel extensively within Wajir, Mandera, Garissa and Tana River counties
• Client-oriented: able to work well with people from diverse cultures and communicate effectively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Fluency in English and Swahili
GRANTS OFFICERS
Responsible for sub-grant financial administration and compliance as well as programmatic guidance and support. This includes review of new sub-grant proposals, processing of sub-grant agreements and
subsequent modifications, monitoring financial and programmatic aspects of the sub-grant during the sub-award period, and closing of the sub-award. The Grants Officer is responsible for coordinating the
efforts of program, technical and financial staff to ensure an efficient administrative process and quality documentation. The positions will be based in Lodwar, Isiolo and Garissa.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or related experience and/or CPA (K).
• Minimum four years experience in a non-profit environment, preferably international.
• Knowledge of U.S. government grant-making rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of HIV and OVC programming principles.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and high degree of accuracy; strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Solid computer skills and experience with database software.
• Willingness to travel extensively within selected northern arid counties.
SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS
Ensures that the finance department of the sub-regional office functions efficiently; s/he works in conjunction with the Financial Management Specialist in all areas of financial accounting, management and
monitoring including special projects essential to the finance function. The positions will be based in Lodwar and Isiolo.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A degree in financial accounting from a recognized university or CPA III/ ACCA level III.
• Minimum five years experience in a similar position in a large and busy international NGO.
• Experience with U. S. government contracts and good working knowledge of US federal/ USAID rules and regulations.
• Excellent computer skills particularly with advanced hands on experience on different types of spread sheets and various automated accounting systems.
• Ability to work well with people from diverse cultures and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
ACCOUNTANTS
Responsible for payment processing, liquidation and assisting in preparation of Monthly Office Report and all related attachments. The positions will be based in Lodwar and Isiolo.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Professional accounting qualification of CPA III or ACCA level III. An accounting degree will be an added advantage.
• Three years experience in a similar position in a large and busy international NGO. Knowledge of ACCPAC will be an added advantage.
• Experience with US government contracts and good working knowledge of USAID rules and regulations is preferred.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly with advanced hands-on experience with different types of spreadsheets and various automated accounting systems.
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Responsible for providing both administrative and logistical support in the implementation of project activities. The position will be based in Isiolo.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Diploma in Business Administration or its equivalent.
• Formal training in accounting, preferably CPA II, will be an added advantage
• Three years experience in office administration, accounting , procurement, logistics and training logistics
