Our client is a newly established regional distributor of internationally renowned professional hair products based in Nairobi. The products are targeted to professional set-ups such as salons, spas and hotels. We are seeking applications to fill the following positions:
Chief Operations Officer (Salary range Kshs.150,000/=)
This is a highly demanding role in the new establishment that works closely with the company CEO responsible to set up efficient and effecting processes and work systems and oversee the company`s business operations across several locations within the region.
The role holder is expected to perform undertake the following duties:
* Financial Accounting, Analysis & Reporting
o Implement the organization, set-up, resourcing and staffing of an efficient and effective finance function
o Oversee the preparation of the management and financial accounts from primary input level up to Annual Report & Audited Accounts level
o Regular and timely analysis, reporting and interpretation of the financial performance and position of the business* Financial Planning & Control
o Compiling and preparing company annual budget and ongoing budget monitoring and reporting
o Establish benchmarks for measurement & control of business performance
o Establish and maintain adequate internal controls over the income, cost of sales, expenses, assets and liabilities of the business
o Manage cash-flows & the financial position of the business to ensure sustainable growth & survival
* Business Strategy & Decision Making Support
o Research and report on factors influencing business performance
o Maintain business intelligence over competitive influences on the business and suggest appropriate responses
* Operations Management
o Business processes – Establish and implement efficient and effective processes to manage key business functions including Sales Order Process, Purchasing & Inventory Control Process, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank Assets, Information Management & Control, Staff Control, Physical Controls etc
o Logistics management – Manage supply chain logistics from Purchase order for inventory to final delivery to end customers and ensure safe, cost effective and efficient procurement, freight, transport, warehousing, storage, dispatch and delivery of goods while eliminating wastage at every stage of the process
o Resource and Staff Management – Manage and control staff and resources of the business to ensure efficiency in utilization and optimization of outputs
* Stakeholder, Taxation and Compliance Management
o Manage external stakeholder relationships including suppliers, banks, freight, forwarding & clearing agents, customers, government agencies
o Ensure sufficient up-to-date processes and procedures are in place for assurance of tax compliance and compliance with laws, regulations and government policies
Minimum Criteria:
* An undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA(K), ACCA or its equivalent
* Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
* Experience in a business/commercial environment with demonstrable entrepreneurial and business skills
* Strong financial numeracy and analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data
* Working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and excellent knowledge of local and international financial regulations and legislation
* Excellent technical knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis processes in a commercial set up
* Excellent and effective communications skills, both orally and in writing and ability to effectively engage the business owners in matters pertaining the company
* Well developed ability to multi-task and handle multiple ongoing issues concurrently
* Ability to take charge and control over varied situations that emerge and ‘think on their feet’ for solutions to problems
* Excellent interpersonal skills and strong personal impact to command respect with internal and external stakeholders
* High degree of honesty and integrity
