The Eastern Africa College of Ophthalmologists (EACO) is a regional membership organization that seeks to increase the number of Ophthalmologists and improve the quality of eye-care in the Eastern Africa region through training, research and sub-specialization in Ophthalmology. EACO is currently implementing a 5-Year programme co-funded by the European Union named “Promoting Quality Ophthalmology in East Africa” and seeks to recruit a Programme and Fundraising Manager and a Project Officer to support the EU
co-funded project in Nairobi.

PROGRAMME AND FUNDRAISING MANAGER

The overall purpose of this role is to strengthen EACO as a sustainable and purposeful institution moving forward into the 21st century. Providing leadership and managerial guidance on policy direction and programme initiatives will be a key deliverable, including programme coordination; fundraising and advocacy; programme formulation, planning and implementation. The Manager will report to the Board as well as the President of EACO and will supervise the Project Officer and the Project Accountant.

Requirements: 5 years management experience; Postgraduate Degree in Development Studies, Management or related field; knowledgeable in Strategic Planning, Capacity Building, Development trends and have proven experience working with European Union funded projects.

PROJECT OFFICER
Reporting to the Programme and Fundraising Manager, the Project Officer will provide technical coordination, supervision and implementation of projects under EACO Programmes.

He/ she will oversee preparation and submission of progress and financial reports; support in Monitoring and Evaluation activities and work with the Project Accountant to ensure that appropriate financial management in compliance with Donor’s rules and requirements is achieved.

The Officer will support the Funding Manager in identifying funding opportunities and proposal evelopment; foster partnership with stakeholders; represent EACO at various fora; and develop and maintain linkages with
organizations that share in EACO’s vision and mission.

Requirements: Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related qualification; 3 years experience in NGO environment, experience in management of donor funded projects; knowledge of project design and management; budget development and management and have excellent report writing skills.
