Our client is large integrated FMCG organisation with a manufacturing base in Uganda feeding all Regional markets with various products. They are looking for a talented, sober, mature self-starter to fill this position.
Job Purpose: To manage a large fleet of trucks with responsibility for efficiency and turnaround as
well as maximize the utilization of the fleet while containing costs in the operations of the business.
Responsibilities
●Plan, organize & direct the work of the section to meet objectives with the most efficient use of personnel, facilities & equipment.
●Administer activities connected with the purchase of garage tools, automotive repair supplies, repair parts & accessories.
●Develop a testing and inspection program to determine quality & suitability & compliance with specifications for vehicles, parts, accessories & materials.
●Prepare monthly reports and projections on the mileage covered against the returns on investment.
●Develop and implement fleet management plans that will guarantee the availability of a well maintained and serviced fleet.
●Manage the company service providers such as garages to ensure all vehicles are serviced,repaired and maintained in a timely and professional manner and that all legal requirements such as inspections, licenses and insurances are acquired on time.
●Ensure that spare parts are procured cost effectively and as per specifications, monitor vehicles usage and running costs and make appropriate recommendations to management on the same.
Requirements
●Degree in Logistics or a comparable degree with additional related business management or equivalent.
●Must have minimum 15 yrs experience in similar position and be tuned into the conditions and dynamics of East Africa
●Prior experience in fleet management including monitoring vehicle performance, managing running costs and records maintenance; experience working with Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV’s) is a must.
●Experience/knowledge in motor vehicle maintenance including troubleshooting and procurement of spare parts.
●Should have a sound knowledge of workshop operations/mechanics and be a solid team leader.
●Experience working with third parties such as garages, suppliers, insurance companies,licensing bodies etc.
●Excellent supervisory and reporting skills are key.
