Job Summary:
To provide oversight to KAM Consulting, an autonomous Strategic Business Unit of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).
KAM established in 2005 the basic Business Support Services Unit, which has recently been repositioned to develop and provide quality demand-driven and profitable consultancy services to the business community in Kenya and the greater EAC region.
As from 2011 the unit will be established as an autonomous SBU within KAM with the core function of delivering business development services, including energy efficiency and conservation, to KAM members and thereby generate profits for the organization.
Nature of Work (Duties & Responsibilities):
The Incumbent will be expected to offer strategic leadership to the organizational development (OD) and business growth of the Strategic Business Unit by ensuring that:-
* KAM Consulting is registered and established as an autonomous legal entity recognized to provide business services;
* Identify, prioritize and develop key high quality business services targeting business leaders and senior management in companies, including but not limited to technical value chain analysis, export market assistance to SMEs, certification programs, energy services, lean manufacturing, technical training, seminars and education; for large, medium and SMe sized companies.
* Determine key revenue drivers for the various services offered by KAM Consulting;
* Competitively market and offer services demanded by industry and the business sector;
* Determine and recruit the required human resource capacity necessary for KAM Consulting to deliver its business plan;
* Develop and maintain linkages with local and international training institutions and strategic partners necessary for KAM Consulting to operate;
* Maintain relations with external service providers to be retained to offer services on behalf of KAM Consulting
* Ensure KAM Consulting Unit generates a proportion of the Association’s income in accordance with annual plans and budgets; and remains a profitable business arm of the association
* Maintain Quality Assurance for KAM Consulting Services;
Planned Growth & Development:
The job holder will have the opportunity to develop / enhance his/her skills and capabilities through the Organization’s training, development and succession plans.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
* To oversee the establishment of the Manufacturing Academy as a key service;
* To oversee the development of a curricula for the Manufacturing Academy;
* Financial oversight to KAM Consulting;
* Line management of KAM Consulting human resource;
* Reporting to the CEO, Finance Committee and the Board.
Qualifications:
* The successful candidate shall have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Corporate Management from a recognized university and should demonstrate successful innovations executed in a corporate entrepreneurship setting especially in Manufacturing.
* 3-5 years experience of running a consultancy business in a highly competitive environment.
* Excellent technical, communication and presentation skills.
* Advanced skills in marketing and/or financial management will be an added advantage.
