Catalyst is a regional private equity investor focusing on mid-market growth capital investments in
Eastern Africa. We are looking for an Associate based in Nairobi to support the team in structuring,
evaluating, originating, executing and monitoring investments by performing financial, statistical,
business and investment analyses, conducting research, preparing support documentation and assisting
in due diligence efforts, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities
•Undertake quantitative assessment and evaluation of potential investments through financial and
commercial analysis, valuation analysis and measurement of investment returns;
•Undertake qualitative assessment through business analysis and research; handle deal issues
including risks, structure and environmental analysis;
•Manage investment process through; deal generation, transaction structuring, negotiation and
execution including portfolio and divestment analysis;
•Source and analyze relevant sectoral information;
•Model proposed transactions and write internal investment papers;
•Generate performance and valuation reports on existing investments and make presentations for
specific opportunities.

Requirements
•Business degree majoring in Finance , Accounting or Economics with a professional accounting
qualification such as CPA, ACCA or CFA
•4 years working experience in venture capital/ private equity/ banking/consultancy/ business
development;
•Strong financial modelling, research, due diligence and business analysis experience
•Good understanding of investment culture
•Strong excel skills and proficiency in MS office suite
•Good communication and interpersonal skills
•Strong commercial judgment & understanding of financial concepts
•Genuine interest and knowledge of emerging markets
• Strong regional networking capability will be an advantage
