UNDP Kenya, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports seeks to recruit an Assistant Project Officer.
Background
In the recent years, the Government of Kenya has recognized the crucial role that young people play in enhancing development in their communities through empowerment, participation, and creating opportunities for peaceful co-existence of the citizens.
With this recognition, the Government established the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS).
One of the strategic areas of intervention for UNDP Kenya is to build capabilities of organizations and agencies to adequately empower young people.
This is done in key focus areas of livelihood creation, peace building and conflict prevention and capacity building initiatives that are relevant to the needs of the Kenyan youth.
As a part of its commitment, UNDP Kenya, in partnership with MoYAS is delivering the Kenya National Youth Development and Training (KNYD&T) Programme and desires to engage an Assistant Project Officer to support the coordination and implementation of the programme.
Qualifications
* Completion of Secondary Education (C+ or higher) with a diploma in Education, Development Studies, Social Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Programme Management or other related fields
* A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Peace Building, Conflict Prevention, Political Science, International Relations or other related field would be desirable.
* Additional training on conflict management and youth development issues, an added advantage.
Experience
* At least 5 years of relevant work experience in developing and managing peace building, conflict prevention and poverty reduction initiatives preferably among the youth in Kenya.
* Minimum of 5 years in increasingly responsible working experience in the area of youth development.
Language Requirements
* Fluency in English is required.
* Fluency in Swahili would be an advantage.
