Head Of Strategy & Business Development.
Our client is a leading and fast growing financial institution in Uganda. Their core objective is to play a profitable development role through the provision of financial services in Uganda. The Bank provides innovative products and superior service levels catering for customer needs in the areas of Wholesale Banking, Business Banking and Personal Banking.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role is responsible for driving the strategic and business planning activities of the bank and monitoring of bank performance against the plan. The Manager will also be expected to take responsibility for business development and for delivering Sales Targets for both Retail and Wholesale Banking through the effective management of the country sales team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Gather relevant economic and banking data and prepare performance projection for the banking sector in Uganda and the wider region, clearly identifying the opportunities that are available to the bank and the challenges that the bank will have to overcome in order to achieve its objectives.
•Lead the preparation of periodic strategic plans that respond to the noted opportunities and challenges and manage the annual business planning process, ensuring that the business plans link into and support the longer term plans.
•Monitor bank performance against the plans, clearly identifying performance gaps and management team members to put in place plans to address gaps.
•Work with the marketing teams (internal and contractors) to identify and segment the target market of the bank and ensure that appropriate products are developed for each of these segments.
• Lead the innovation team in identifying banking best practices both within Uganda and the region use this information to generate new business ideas and support product development.
• Develop a business development and sales strategies to deliver both Retail and Wholesale Banking Liability and Asset Sales Targets.
• Ensure that the performance of the sales tem is in line with set targets and provide support, including resources and skills development to redress performance shortfalls.
•Participate in the Development and Implementation of an Incentive Scheme to attract, reward and retain the best sales force
•Spearhead the bank’s regional expansion and new markets, strategic marketing partnership with international bodies and pursue business interests and alliances in vibrant business regions like the US, Europe, Far East and Middle East.
•Pursue strategic banking alliances in regions/areas with the highest trade opportunities and activity with Uganda e.g. China, Dubai, EAC, Europe.
•Propose new and innovative solutions/products to meet ever growing and changing customer needs with specific emphasis on electronic and mobile banking solutions and carry our product tests in target markets before eventual launch.
•Spearhead and propose to Board and Management strategic entry into the oil and other strategic sectors both in Uganda and in the region.

REQUIREMENTS

University degree. A masters degree will be of added advantage
At least 5 years experience in a commercial environment at a senior mgt level
Experience in Strategy Formulation and Implementation is critical
Sales Management experience is essential
Strong networking and negotiation skills
Team management is key to the role and the candidate must have experience of developing
team objectives and ensuring team direction
Effective interpersonal communication with proven ability to function well in a
multidisciplinary team setting
