Egerton University is in the process of strengthening its capacity to mobilize resources to enable it adequately meet its mandate of teaching, research, and outreach.
The University, therefore, wishes to recruit a Grants Writer who will provide the leverage to the resource mobilization team. The holder of the position will report to the Director, Resource Mobilization and Investments.

Tasks and Responsibilities

    * Identify donors, partners and prepare concepts, notes and proposals for funding.
    * Preparation and submission of progress and project reports to meet University obligations and donor requirements
    * Network with Government, Regional and International donor agencies.
    * Provide regular communication between the University and Government Agencies and private firms
    * Ensure that the Donor and Government funded projects adhere to University mandate and strategic plan
    * Ensure compliance with national and donor requirements
    * Develop and maintain a database of donors
    * Build and sustain sound relationship with donors
    * Contribute to the development and implementation of local and international resource mobilization strategies
    * Play a lead role in University's resource mobilization programme.
Qualifications and Requirements
    * Holder of a Masters Degree in a relevant area.
    * Ability to work for long hours under minimum supervision.
    * Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
    * Knowledge of government and donor requirements for funding.
    * Ability to collect and synthesize information from multiple sources and prepare comprehensive reports.
    * Must possess excellent computer skills.
    * Experience in grant writing.

Terms and conditions of service are performance based and include the following:-
    * Three (3) year contract renewable on mutual agreement.
    * Basic salary of Kshs.61,792-Kshs.81,385/=
    * House Allowance Kshs.48,000/= per month.

2. Farm Manager (Ngongogeri Farm)

The Farm Manager is responsible for the management of all enterprises in the farm and will report to the Investment Manager.
The Farm Manager will be in-charge of the farm and responsible for:- day-to-day running of the farm, human resources and farm operations for both crop and livestock.
The Farm Manager shall be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for the farm in line with the University Strategic Plan.
He/She will be expected to prepare business plans for the various farm enterprises and will be responsible for the financial management of the farm.
In addition, the Farm Manager must innovatively and efficiently run the farm for optimal productivity and profitability. He/She will be responsible for updating and safekeeping of all farm records and assets. The Farm Manager shall prepare quarterly and annual reports.

Qualification:-
This position requires a person with thorough knowledge in Farm Management and farming as a business enterprise.

He/She is expected to:-

    * Have a Bachelor of Science degree in any Agricultural related discipline.
    * Candidates in possession of postgraduate qualifications in an Agricultural discipline or business management will have an added advantage.
    * Have at least five (5) years experience in managing a large scale mixed farm with dairy and commercial crop enterprises.
    * Be dynamic, self-driven, focused, disciplined and be a team player.
    * Reside on the farm.

Terms of Service

The successful applicant will be hired on a three (3) year contract term with competitive negotiated remuneration package.

The contract will be based on agreed performance targets and is renewable on mutual agreement.
