The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership-based organization registered in Kenya; our
members are drawn from within and outside the East African states.
We operate as a non-profit, non-political, non-denominational organization based in Nairobi with country offices in Tanzania and Uganda.
Our core role is to prepare, disseminate, and promote the exchange of information on matters affecting
the regional grain industry with the express intent of promoting the regional grain supply chain.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Manager will oversee financial management and
accounting services of the organizations operations. He/she will also oversee all activities relating to,
Human Resources and Administration.Responsibilities
•Advise Executive Director and Board Committee on financial issues and develop long-term business
strategies.
•Lead the annual program budgeting process including internal approval of grant proposals and
budgets.
•Review and implement the EAGC financial and accounting policies and procedures in the region.
•Prepare Board papers and ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and records
that meet international financial reporting standards.
•Involve board committee in financial operations of audit and accounting procedures in the region.
•Oversee financial performance at EAGC offices and provide support to membership organizations in
financial matters.
•Oversee administration of monthly staff salaries and associated statutory payments within required
timelines.
•Develop a competent finance team through training and provision of necessary assistance in
execution of tasks.
•Maintain good relationships with EAGC membership organizations, donors, suppliers, official
authorities and other agencies.
•Provide support in funding efforts.
Requirements
•B.A majoring in Finance or Accounting with a professional accounting qualification i.e. CPA / ACCA.
•5 years experience in Finance, preferably with membership based organizations.
•Sound knowledge of financial management and accounting procedures
•Experience in donor reporting
•Experience in provision of support to fundraising efforts will be an added advantage
•Excellent Interpersonal and analytical skills
•Well developed planning and organizing skills
