Legal Assistant Job. Kenya Railways.
Reporting to the Senior Legal Officer, the Legal Assistant will keep up to date records of all court cases and carry out clerical duties within the division.

Duties & Responsibilities
•Opening files for new cases and keeping an up to date record of all court cases;
•Developing and maintaining the filing registry for the division;
•Managing and updating the court diary;
•Updating the records on the Laws of Kenya;
•Assisting the Corporation Secretary in preparing board papers including photocopying, binding and circulation;
•Assisting in the maintenance of Board Records;
•Assisting in service of court documents;
•Assisting in attending to claimants queries;
•Following up payments of judgement awards, claimant lawyers and claimants from the Finance Department;
•Dispatching urgent legal mails;
•Obtaining statutes from the Government press;
•Conducting searches at the Companies’ Registry and Department of Lands;
•Receiving court documents in the absence of the Senior Legal Officer.
Requirements
Must be in possession of the following:
•O- Level Mean grade C or Div. III;
•Diploma in Law from a recognized College OR Certified Public Secretary of Kenya (CPS (K);
•Three 3 years’ post qualification experience in a busy law firm and as a court process-server;
•Excellent organization skills;
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
•Capacity to work in a very busy office with strict deadlines

Terms of offer
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and responsibilities of the position will be negotiated with the right candidate.
